Let it Shine!
There isn’t anything more satisfying to us at Cornerstone Cleaning than taking a tired and worn out Vinyl Composite Tile (VCT) floor and transforming it to look like a polished and shining gem.
VCT is a common choice of flooring in commercial buildings most commonly found in restrooms, kitchens, exam rooms, and hallways. Regular maintenance is required to keep up their appearance and prevent permanent damage. VCT is manufactured with a very thin factory finish coat of wax meant to protect against minor abrasions during shipping and installation. Once new VCT is installed, it must be properly stripped and waxed. Two coats of wax should be applied in order to endure daily wear and tear. The rate at which the wax on VCT wears away depends on the amount of traffic the floor experiences. It is not uncommon for VCT to require stripping and waxing twice a year in an average traffic environment.
Stripping and waxing can remove stains, build shine, and improve the overall appearance. VCT is a porous material and dirt and grime may become permanently embedded in the exposed tile if all the wax is allowed to wear away. You should never let all of the floor’s wax wear away before cleaning and resealing. Maintaining your floors can be a challenge and require a consistent floor care plan in order to prolong the life of your floor. Let the experts at Cornerstone Cleaning take care of all your flooring needs… and your outdoor Window Washing and/or Pressure Washing needs!
